Surrealism experiment with pencils

Philosophy

Practically - After having spent quite a time drawing preparatory sketches I proceeded with a light drawing in graphite, and slowly worked into this strange image with both graphite and coloured pencils.

Philosophically - This is the first of many characters who have become visual symbols of the various experiences I have gone through - and am still going through.

The Magus stands for that rare and precious moment when I have been able to draw upon the limited wisdom I have cultivated, and share it with another journeyman. At this time I get excited at the thought of growing old, and I start to see wisdom growing out of me like a dreadlock or branch.
