12th century carving St Pierre church Aulnay linocut

Dans l'église Aulnay

Dans l'église Aulnay

An experimental return to an old technique - linocutting and woodblocks.
This is a thrilling way to work ... even using the ancient hand printing technique (ie - the bone folder!).
This 'portrait' is one of thousands of bizarre images found in the churches on the various pilgrimage routes throughout France.

I have no idea what this wonderful figure is supposed to represent ... Neptune?
