Surrealism experiment with pencils

Philosophy

Practically - After having spent quite a time drawing preparatory sketches I proceeded with a light drawing in graphite, and slowly worked into this with both graphite and coloured pencils.

Philosophically - One of a series of four modern art pictures. Each creature has its own vision of grandeur.

The desires of the squid are so practical and "down to earth". Yet it craves for that deeper embrace where its true self is ultimately absorbed by the hidden heart of its existance. Then its corruptible body finally dissolves into the source of its real eternal nature.
